Cybersecurity Awareness and Combating Digital Violence Against Women
As part of the Empowering Women in Cybersecurity initiative at Aswan University, and in line with ongoing efforts to promote digital awareness and women’s empowerment in technology, a workshop titled:
“Cybersecurity Awareness and Combating Digital Violence Against Women”
was successfully organized in collaboration with the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at Aswan University and Ganoubia Hora Foundation.



Event Details
The workshop took place on April 8, 2026, at Ahmed Fawzi Hall – Faculty of Education, Aswan University, with the participation of a diverse group of students and individuals interested in cybersecurity and digital safety.
Workshop Objectives
The workshop aimed to:
- Raise awareness about digital violence and its various forms
- Introduce fundamental cybersecurity concepts and personal data protection practices
- Empower women with the knowledge and tools to face cyber threats
- Provide practical guidance on handling cyber harassment, hacking, and online blackmail
Speaker
The session was delivered by Dr. Samia Hashmet, Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering,and Director of the IT Unit, Faculty of Engineering, Aswan University.
The workshop combined theoretical insights with practical examples, fostering strong engagement and interaction among participants.

The event witnessed active participation, including discussions and Q&A sessions addressing real-world digital challenges faced by women and effective strategies to overcome them.
