In the post-COVID era, the perception of cybersecurity’s importance has significantly evolved, particularly within the private sector. The proliferation of cyber threats and vulnerabilities has also led to a rise in job opportunities within the field. However, gender equality remains a challenge in this sector, as it continues to be male-dominated.

Empowering Women in Cybersecurity – Impact

As part of the Empowering Women in Cybersecurity Project, a series of workshops and training programs were conducted across Upper Egypt to promote digital awareness and equip young women and students with essential cybersecurity skills.The project evolved from awareness sessions to hands-on training, culminating in the organization of the first Capture The Flag (CTF) competition in Upper Egypt, contributing to building qualified cybersecurity talents.

Outstanding Achievement

The project’s efforts were crowned by the Faculty of Engineering – Aswan University team achieving 1st place among Upper Egypt universities in the Arab Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (Cybersecurity track).
This achievement was led by student Noha Nour El-Din Abdel-Hakim, under the supervision of Dr. Samia Heshmat and Dr. Ghada Abozaid, reflecting excellence, leadership, and innovation in advanced technology fields.
